BOOK REVIEW: MYSTICAL CIRCLES by S C. Skillman

Mystical Circles by S C Skillman is a well written story which will captivate you from the first
paragraph.  When I received this 376 page novel I did not know what to expect.  I thought this would be a simple story about a sister rescuing a sibling from some crazed cult leader. I assumed the sister would enter the cult become friends with some mild mannered cult member and then somehow almost get killed; rescue  her sister and after a much needed debriefing the two would live happily ever after; I was wrong.

From page one of Mystical Circles by S C Skillman my antennas were up. I became suspicious when Juliet met Don then Craig but not her sister who was supposedly off somewhere meditating.
Like any good mystery the more I read the more questions I had, particularly about Don. If a great mystery would not keep you reading there was a touch of romance as well: Does Craig like Zoe?  We know Zoe loves Craig, but who makes Laura smile? Mystical Circles is definitely a page turner. I recommend this book.   Marsha L. Randolph

BOOK REVIEW: A WOMAN’S GUIDE TO FASTING by Lisa E. Nelson

Fasting is as personal as prayer probably more so, “A Woman’s Guide to Fasting” by Lisa E. Nelson addresses the topic with the understanding of this fact.  In her book Mrs. Nelson explains every aspect of fasting from why it is done to how it is done.  She also discusses difficulties that could occur, reasons why and what should be done if end the fast abruptly and most important how to come off of a fast.

As a person who has participated in every fast discussed in this book both as part of a church and privately I agree with what was written.  I stopped participating in corporate fast years ago and it has been quite a while since I fasted privately.  Particularly helpful to me was the section on “Fasting In Grace” this topic validated what I personally believed yet never put into words.

If you have never fasted or fasted and failed this book is for you. “A Woman’s Guide to Fasting” is an excellent reference tool for both men and women on fasting.  I definitely recommend it. When you read this book you will also find helpful the discussions on “Listening to God”.

BOOK REVIEW: A FIELD TRIP TO HELL by Kevin Benton

In Kevin Benton’s autobiographical book Field Trip to Hell he discusses the events that led up to his visiting and the revelations he received about Hell. As I read the book it became very clear that his passion was a desire to reach as many people as possible regarding the truth about hell in hopes that people will turn to the gift of Salvation.

Minister Kevin Benton a non-denominational leader within the Christian Community is an ex professional  basketball player spends his time as a husband and Chief Section Contributor
and Editor of approved News Google site, GOD DISCUSSION.  2. He was the Youth & Young Adult  Pastor of Mega Church St. Matthews Baptist Church (10, 000 members) until God  called him to start Kevin Benton Ministries becoming a traveling Evangelist in conjunction with the release of his book. He remains the Youth & Young  Adult Pastor and serves as a consultant for churches helping them build Youth & Young Adult ministries not to mention speaking at their functions.  A graduate of Liberty University with a B.S. in Psychology, he is a follower of
the teachings of Jerry Fallwell.

As a member of a non-denominational church I was keenly aware of various denominational teachings.  For example Minister Benton focuses on “works” quite a bit whereas I am a firm believer of Grace.  He voices a concern about the lack of Church Leaders teaching about hell which may be true yet I believe if eternity is taught correctly then a believer will develop a knowledge of hell. However, we agree that there is no one who needs to go to hell. I recommend reading of this book not necessarily  for the conversation on hell but for its autobiographical discussion. Having had several conversations over the telephone with Minister Benton as well as
via email I can assure you that his love of God and his desire for all men (and women) to be saved comes across every page. As with many of the books I review  this is one more book in which in conjunction with your bible will help you grow as a believer.

If nothing else purchase this book whose official title is: “A Field Trip to Hell Experience the 30 Torments of Hell Without Having to Stay for Eternity”  for a young man who needs to hear from someone who has overcome the cares of this world.  Marsha L. Randolph

BOOK REVIEW: IT IS DANGEROUS TO BE RIGHT by Judge Andrew P. Napolitano

IT IS DANGEROUS TO BE RIGHT

 WHEN THE

GOVERNMENT IS WRONG

In his latest book “It Is Dangerous To Be Right When The Government Is Wrong” Judge Andrew P. Napolitano continues his crusade of presenting “the case for personal freedom”.  If you have ever watched the judge on FOX business then you will quickly realize that he writes as passionately as he speaks.  The book goes into greater detail of the discussions he has on television.

It is important to understand who you are as an individual and the role government should and
should not play in your life or the lives of others.  If you are not familiar with The Judge then
the Introduction will be a much needed read; there he defines a few key concepts such as: “Natural Rights” and “Human Law”.   The book exams areas in which the government has in the past and continues to impose in such as: property (including slavery), speech, travel, gun ownership and money. These issues are contrasted with what is in the constitution revealing
how far the nation has deviated from its foundation. As he himself states “It Is Dangerous To Be Right When The Government Is Wrong” is not a happy book but it is a necessary read particularly in a time when citizens are losing more of their rights in the name of “national security.

I recommend this book.   Marsha L. Randolph
