BOOK REVIEW: SESNSATIONS A Little Book of Love … by Dawn Armstrong

There are lots of inspirational books on the market what makes “Sensations” by Dawn Armstrong, unique is that it is both inspirational and inquiring.  There are words that will inspire from people like Albert Einstein and William Shakespeare. And words that inquire causing the reader to look within asking questions like:”How courageous are you? And “What does false courage look like?” (page 15 of my PDF copy) “Sensations” therefore becomes a book of self awareness which will lead to personal growth and development.

Sensations A Little Book of Love Inspiration & Poetic Contemplations” by Dawn Armstrong is a coffee table or bathroom book.  You can glance at a page or two and there will be a residual effect in which the thought will linger for a few days. How courageous are you? You don’t really know do you? That one question of the four on the page could lead to hours of discussion.

This is a great book to have for personal growth and development. I recommend it

BIBLE REVIEW: THE VOICE

Before I write anything I must admit that I am addicted to bibles.  I love reading different translations and comparing them with my trusty old New King James. At last count I have at least 10 bibles (hard covers) different translations of course and about three translations on my Kindle and four on my computer. So when I had the opportunity to read a new bible translation I eagerly grabbed it.

Thomas Nelson’s newest bible is called “The Voice” and it is great!  After reading the in Preface and viewing a few of the other books I dived into the book of Hebrews.  I chose Hebrews because I am currently taking a class on the book of Hebrews and I wanted to know how it would compare not only to what I have read but what my instructor was teaching. This is an excellent translation, it is understandable, it does not take away from the majesty of the King James version and it flows nicely. The comments found were not so complex that if this was your first time reading the bible it would not be over bearing.

Because I received the New Testament translation, the complete book has an expected release date of April 2012, I could not check out Proverbs or any of the Psalms however I looked at my favorite verse Matthew 6:33 and John 1:1-4.  What I think The Voice does for the word of God is amplifies His message.  In a few months I will have 11 bibles.

I recommend The Voice not only to new believers but those who love the word of God.

BOOK REVIEW: THE FOUNDERS’ KEY by Larry P. Arnn

“The Founders Key” by Larry P Arnn, the president of Hillsdale College presents an overview of a much needed topic regarding the Constitution of the United States, the Declaration of Independence and its’ relevance today. Systematically presenting historical facts that prove the intent of our founding fathers, which includes direct quotes, Mr Arnn discusses the significance of today’s political climate.

This is an important book, particularly for those who choose to listen to the various “talking points” presented over the air waves.  In a time when history is being rewritten to accommodate political agendas “The Founders Key” serves as a reference book.

Often when a person reads a history book he or she becomes overwhelmed by the information presented, this is not the case with “The Founders Key” Of the 216 pages 125 pages are dedicated to introducing the reader to the meat of the book Part II: “The Foundational Reading”.  Part II includes the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Because this book is a synopsis of American history the notes, located at the end, become all the more important and serve as the gateway to further education.

I recommend reading this book.  Though this book is available both in hard cover and kindle format if you are like me and like to take notes then I would suggest you get the hard cover.   XX

BOOK REVIEW: WAITING ON HOPE by T. M. Sounders

Still not tired after a full day of chores and work and with nothing interesting on television I decided to read a few pages of “Waiting on Hope” by T. M. Sounders. The few pages turned into the entire book as I fought sleep to discover what would happen to Lexie the main character.

This is the story of a young lady who was raped by her best friend’s husband. This is the story about suicide, about abuse, about true love more importantly this is an excellent story about life and second chances. “Waiting on Hope” tells the story of a young womans’ life after she is raped, revealing how what happened to her affects those around her.  This is a story yet it could have happened which is what makes this novel so good.

Technically, all of the characters were well defined, the chapters had smooth transitions and the book had a beginning, middle and an end. All of that makes the book easy to follow. As far as story lines go I am sure there are other novels that address some of the same issues. What makes this book great is the reader involvement: as I read the book my emotions flowed with the story: I was angry, worried, sad, happy, frustrated and joyous.

You will want to read “Waiting On Hope” by T. M. Sounders because it is one of those books that will give you hope. To my readers I recommend this book.  xxx
