I don’t know if reading “My Amish Childhood: A True Story of Faith, Family and the Simple Life” by Jerry S. Eicher will give you an idea of what it is like being a traditional Amish person . However, the reader will surely understand how simple a life can be, as it was experienced by the author.
I never knew there were Amish in Honduras until I read “My Amish Childhood” which describes in great detail how Jerry S. Eicher and his family moved there. The author shares numerous stories of his family and their lifestyle in a different land some readers may be fascinated by what is revealed I was not.
The pace of the book was too slow which made it difficult for me to stay interested. If you are really curios about different lifestyles you may not mind the great detail I found myself skipping pages about a third of the way through.
I recommend this book however I would suggest you check it out from the library.
