Keeping up with the Jones can deplete your finances quickly and keeping up with business associates can exhaust you.
Being self-employed is a discipline that must be developed quickly; often what we do is copy hour by hour the actions of someone who has a proven record of success. Though it is important to follow the “system” you must be able to put your own personal spin on your endeavors.
It is no secret that I have tried several work from home businesses most of which I failed at. With my latest business venture I found myself becoming discouraged and inexplicably tired which led to discouragement. Fortunately, this was right around the time for a scheduled vacation. Relaxed and Rested I was able to evaluate the past few months compare my actions with my goals and establish a routine based on my lifestyle. Because I believe in the business I am now in I have no desire to quit.
Often what many do with direct marketing, network marketing, multi-level marketing or other home based business ventures is copy to the second what someone else has done to achieve success. After weeks of duplicating what someone else has done the person discovers that she has not made the same amount of money. (Yes, there may be an initial large deposit of income however that income is not consistent and it is definitely not constant.) Discouraged, some may declare the business is a scam when it is not. Many will walk away angry at the amount of hard to come by money paid to start the now failed business opportunity. The business was not a scam it was just not for you or it could be for you but not in the way your recruiter described it.
The system is how the original developers created the company to operate. As the system is taught through the generations (a.k.a. down line) the process becomes modified. Once you know the system (how to correctly do what you need to do) then you add your personality.
Think of the person who sings while he works, force him to stop singing and his productivity goes down. What about those who have to have that first cup of coffee? They will be at work but they will not necessarily be working.
Many people I work with are early risers. They get up read their bible, have breakfast and begin their day right about the time I am just getting started. However, by the time these people go to bed I am still awake going strong. How can I duplicate what they do if their day begins 3 hours before mine and ends 3 hours before mine.
Do you have a spouse? Do you have young children who demand your attention? Why are you trying to imitate the single woman who has nothing but time on her hands?
Follow the system not the person.
We choose to be self-employed because of the potential income and the freedom associated with not having a boss. A workable system, discipline, determination, and an understanding of who you are and what you are capable of are significant factors in terms of business success.
You may not get the fast money as others have but YOU CAN earn the constant and consistent money if you establish and maintain your own pace.
