Senior woman contemplatingWhen I was really into financial planning I tried to get people to try and do FREE financial consultations particularly with those in their 50s. Far to many of you have a false sense of security believing that you will be comfortable once you retire.
Today I am going to the home, once again, to an elderly man who had the same belief. Though technically he is financially stable it is a struggle to make sure that he will be able to live in his own home until he dies. Healthy most of his life a stroke changed everything. This individual assumed that he would just drop dead one day,
The reality of living is that you will die, I pray you live long and prosper. Based on your current lifestyle, the cost of living increasing faster than your retirement portfolio and the possibility that you will live to be 100 I suspect you cannot afford to live past 70 or die anytime soon. Ignoring your financial health is not going to change the fact that you are living beyond your means.

Give yourself a lifestyle challenge:
1) Go 30 days without using your credit card.
2) Determine what your actually retirement check would be a month and try to live off of  it for one month.
3) Make a list of ALL the things you do in a week; if you could not do them who would.
– Don’t forget bathing, and eating (if you had a stroke you may have to relearn how to feed yourself)
– Would you loose your job if you did not work? How would that income be replaced
I live in Miami Florida whenever there is a hurricane warning my husband and I make sure we are ready for whatever comes our way, we are thankful when the hurricane either travels in a different direction or it turns into a tropical depression. Life happens, it is better to be ready than not.

Today I will be visiting the home of a person who was not ready. Not as healthy as he use to be it is only a matter of time before he is placed in a nursing home- he has no family and only one friend, myself and a nurse that comes 3 days a week. What he is going through today could have been avoided if he had listened to the Financial Consultant that I brought to his home last year.

I cannot conclude without mentioning the importance of faith, financial wisdom that will last a lifetime comes from God. This is the real challenge: to develop a lifestyle that is God directed.

Larimar- available for purchase via Etsy

“”Most impressive; that was my first response when I saw what a group of people could do with larimar. What is larimar?   It is a unique crystallized mineral, pectolite which normally has white to grayish color. Larimar also called “Stefilia’s Stone” is unique because of it’s shades of blue coloring. VISION BIJOU was created to take this rare stone and present it to the world in the form of jewelry.   What the craftsman have been able to do with this stone is, in my opinion “most impressive.”

VISION BIJOU is the internet based outlet where you and your friends can purchase the various items offered. I must warn you: each piece though similar in design, because it is natural stone, has it’s own personality to it. No two pieces are exactly alike.

VISION BIJOU is jewelry with a cause; there is a purpose for the sale of the jewelry that goes beyond capitalism. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT (100%) of the profit goes to supporting families in the poverty ridden Dominican Republic; …. (to continue reading go to BEYOND THE BOOKSTORE).

BE STILL by M L Floyd

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:10 NKJV

PRAYING WOMANDid I / we forget who God is? Did I / we become so caught up in the cares of this world that we forgot that God can?

We are to busy: our eyes are everywhere, our thoughts are about everything, and our actions are going everyplace. Perhaps we have become a nation of to many goals, perhaps it is time to go back to basics. I write ‘perhaps’ when actually I know that we should/ I should.

In answer to all of our problems God said: “Be still.” In other words He is saying stop what you are doing and remember that He is God, always has been always will be. Furthermore God said: “I will be,” there are if and or buts about it. There is not a country on this planet that will not acknowledge Him. PERIOD!!!

Meditate on that for awhile as you think about what is going on in the United States of America and around the world. Don’t get mad remember God.

BUT! This is also appropriate for what is going on in your own life. The foolishness you have been putting up with on your job. The stuff that your children are doing that you did not raise them to do. Even the problems within your marriage. Just stop and remember that you are a child of the Most High God. Praise Him instead of your problems- exalt Him and you will not have to do so much.

Are you a compromising Christian? There are those who negotiate their Christianity by balancing their “not-so-good” traits with more “good” behaviors. For example:
Not using profanity no matter what the circumstances. When you compare your language with others living a similar lifestyle you believe God will disregard the lies you tell. This is a compromise.
Or perhaps you allow your coworkers to do things their way even though your way is better. When you think about how magnanimous you are at work you believe God will definitely disregard your use of company supplies for personal use and / or you carry out personal business during work hours. This is a compromise.
Perhaps you take great pride in not judging the lives of people even if the Bible says it is not God’s way. You do not discuss homosexuality with friends and family even though you believe the Bible says it is wrong. You do not discourage someone from having an abortion even though you know that God honors life in the womb. You do not speak out against spousal abuse because it is not your place to judge. You choose not to study your Bible, you choose not to attend a place where God’s word is taught, you refuse to tithe or give of your time, your not even sure that Scripture is applicable to todays’ lifestyles.

Because you are a “good” person you believe God will let you into heaven and he will bless you.

“Don’t be misled; remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it: a man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows!” Galatians 6:7 The Living Bible

Of course most people do not think they are “ignoring” God, they are just listening to what the experts are saying and evaluating the information. Many modern day Christians merge expert opinion with the Bible and extract what is comfortable; in other words they compromise.

“Absolutely not! If every person on the planet were a liar and thief, God would still be true. It stands written: Whenever You speak, You are in the right. When You come to judge, You will prevail.” Romans 3:4 The Voice

Compromising Christians are those who take man’s word and place it above God’s Word. Today there is a war between those who choose to stand on Scripture and those who choose to compromise it; which side are you on?
