Are you a compromising Christian? There are those who negotiate their Christianity by balancing their “not-so-good” traits with more “good” behaviors. For example:
Not using profanity no matter what the circumstances. When you compare your language with others living a similar lifestyle you believe God will disregard the lies you tell. This is a compromise.
Or perhaps you allow your coworkers to do things their way even though your way is better. When you think about how magnanimous you are at work you believe God will definitely disregard your use of company supplies for personal use and / or you carry out personal business during work hours. This is a compromise.
Perhaps you take great pride in not judging the lives of people even if the Bible says it is not God’s way. You do not discuss homosexuality with friends and family even though you believe the Bible says it is wrong. You do not discourage someone from having an abortion even though you know that God honors life in the womb. You do not speak out against spousal abuse because it is not your place to judge. You choose not to study your Bible, you choose not to attend a place where God’s word is taught, you refuse to tithe or give of your time, your not even sure that Scripture is applicable to todays’ lifestyles.
Because you are a “good” person you believe God will let you into heaven and he will bless you.
“Don’t be misled; remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it: a man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows!” Galatians 6:7 The Living Bible
Of course most people do not think they are “ignoring” God, they are just listening to what the experts are saying and evaluating the information. Many modern day Christians merge expert opinion with the Bible and extract what is comfortable; in other words they compromise.
“Absolutely not! If every person on the planet were a liar and thief, God would still be true. It stands written: Whenever You speak, You are in the right. When You come to judge, You will prevail.” Romans 3:4 The Voice
Compromising Christians are those who take man’s word and place it above God’s Word. Today there is a war between those who choose to stand on Scripture and those who choose to compromise it; which side are you on?
